Victorian Premier Cricket will step into the Friday night spotlight this summer, with a fresh T20 schedule and a series of blockbuster Grand Final rematches headlining the 2026-27 fixture.

The Men’s First XI T20 competition will feature two rounds of Friday evening matches, giving clubs a new opportunity to showcase Premier Cricket and attract supporters at the beginning of the weekend.

The remaining three pool rounds will be played on Sundays, following matches involving Men’s Second XI or Under 18 Men’s teams. Each of the 18 Premier clubs will host both a Friday night and Sunday fixture, with St Kilda and Prahran set to stage matches under lights at Junction Oval and Toorak Park respectively.

The top teams will advance to a dedicated T20 Finals Series, with the quarter-finals and semi-finals on Sunday 20 December. The competition will culminate in a Tuesday night Grand Final under lights at Junction Oval on 12 January 2027.

Women’s Premier Cricket will also feature more night cricket, beginning with a round of T20 matches ahead of the Melbourne Cup weekend. Toorak Park, Shepley Oval and Russell Lucas Oval will each host matches under lights.

In another major showcase for the competition, the Women’s First XI T20 Grand Final will be played at Junction Oval as a curtain-raiser to the WBBL Melbourne Derby on Saturday 28 November.

Several of last season’s Grand Finalists will renew their rivalries early in the campaign.

Reigning Men’s First XI premier St Kilda will unfurl its premiership flag against Richmond at Junction Oval in Round 3, before travelling to the Albert Ground in Round 4 for a Grand Final rematch against Melbourne.

Richmond and Footscray will reprise last season’s Men’s T20 decider in Round 2 at Central Reserve, as part of a Saturday-Sunday two-day fixture.

In the Women’s First XI, Melbourne and Geelong will meet at the Albert Ground in One Day Round 2 following their memorable Grand Final encounter last season. Essendon Maribyrnong Park and Melbourne will also contest a rematch of the Women’s T20 Grand Final at Aberfeldie Park in T20 Round 8.

The Men’s First XI season will begin with a round of one-day matches on Saturday 3 October, with the three-day Grand Final scheduled from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2027.

The Women’s First XI season begins on Sunday 4 October, with its one-day Grand Final on Saturday 13 March and a reserve day on Sunday 14 March.

Victoria’s next generation will also take centre stage across the summer. The Under 18 Men’s competition begins on Sunday 4 October, while the Dowling Shield, Marg Jennings Cup and Under 18 Women’s competitions will return in January.
