Run Home - Women’s First XI One-Day

The One-Day competition of the Women’s First XI season has so far been an action-packed and entertaining one so far.

And we’re set for an enthralling finish over the next six weeks as teams look to book their spot in finals.

Box Hill – 1st (21 points, Net Run Rate (NRR) 0.733)

Remaining Games: Melbourne (A), Carlton (H), Prahran (H), Ringwood (A), Essendon Maribyrnong Park (H), Bye

Been a stellar season so far for the Mustangs, sitting on top of the table as well as making the T20 decider this month.

First three games of their run home are set to be a real test before taking on Ringwood and EMP to end the home and away season.

Prahran – 2nd (19 points, NRR 1.222)

Remaining Games: Carlton (H), Geelong (H), Box Hill (A), Essendon Maribyrnong Park (H), Melbourne (A), Plenty Valley (A)

The True Blues have had a terrific season so far, undefeated in the one-day competition and sitting in second with a game in hand on first-placed Box Hill.

Prahran will play in all six rounds to end the season, facing all five sides that sit inside the top six during that period.

It’ll be a challenging end to the season, but they’ll be confident of winning the majority of those games given their terrific start.

Geelong – 3rd (16 points, NRR 0.304)

Remaining Games: Essendon Maribyrnong Park (H), Prahran (A), Bye, Plenty Valley (A), Ringwood (H), Carlton (A)

It’s been a solid second season in the Women’s First XI so far for Geelong, currently sitting inside the top four having secured three wins.

They’ll give themselves every chance of playing finals with their run home, with two road games against the two Blues sides along with games against EMP, Plenty Valley and Ringwood.

Win all three games against the Bombers, Bats and Rams and they should play finals.

Melbourne – 4th (16 points, NRR 0.077)

Remaining Games: Box Hill (H), Plenty Valley (A), Carlton (A), Bye, Prahran (H), Dandenong (A)

An up and down season so far for last year’s one-day premiers, with their stronger net run rate compared to Carlton’s seeing them sit inside the top five.

Their run home sees them face the current top two teams along with a potential crunch clash at Princes Park against the Blues.

That game could potentially decide who finishes in the top four.

Carlton – 5th (16 points, NRR 0.056)

Remaining Games: Prahran (A), Box Hill (A), Melbourne (H), Dandenong (A), Bye, Geelong (H)

Started to find some form in the two games leading up to the bye did the Blues to push themselves into fifth spot.

Going to be a massive start to the final five games of the season for the Blues, facing the top two sides on the road before hosting Melbourne in (as previously mentioned) a crunch game.

They’ll give themselves every chance of winning majority of those games in the run home, game against Melbourne will still be a big one.

Essendon Maribyrnong Park – 6th (11 points, NRR 0.014)

Remaining Games: Geelong (A), Bye, Dandenong (H), Prahran (A), Box Hill (A), Ringwood (H)

Having won two of their last three games the Bombers have put themselves in a position to be a late bolter in the finals race.

Fairly evenly balanced run home for EMP, with a pair of winnable home games along with three road assignments that’ll test them.

First up game in Geelong crucial for their final's chances. If they win that then they remain well and truly in the hunt.

Dandenong – 7th (11 points, NRR -0.872)

Remaining Games: Bye, Ringwood (A), Essendon Maribyrnong Park (A), Carlton (H), Plenty Valley (H), Melbourne (H)

After going 2-0 to start the season the Panthers unfortunately now sit outside of a finals spot having lost their last three games.

Their run home is slightly easier than the Bombers but do have some tough opposition coming to Shepley Oval in Carlton and Melbourne.

Ringwood – 8th (7 points, NRR -0.629)

Remaining Games: Plenty Valley (H), Dandenong (H), Bye, Box Hill (H), Geelong (A), Essendon Maribyrnong Park (A)

Been some patches of promise from the Rams this season, particularly their one win against Plenty Valley.

Do face the Bats to begin 2025 and have some fixtures which are certainly winnable against Dandenong and EMP.

Win those first two games then they can certainly start to build momentum and end this season in some good form.

Plenty Valley – 9th (0 points, NRR -0.633)

Remaining Games: Ringwood (A), Melbourne (H), Bye, Geelong (H), Dandenong (A), Prahran (H)

Whilst the Bats have been in a fair few games this season in the one-day competition, unfortunately they remain winless.

Will have a chance at redemption at Ringwood, along with another winnable game against Dandenong, but do have to host the top three sides as well in the final stretch.

If they can produce similar performances to what they did early in the One-Day season can cause teams headaches in the final six rounds of the year.
